The Corner Shop welcomes IRO...

Returning to the Belinda family this season is the French label, IRO. With close attention to detail and an undeniably Parisian aesthetic, this collection features patterned silks, textured knits, printed jeans and super soft leather jackets. 

Owned and directed by brothers, Laurent and Arik Bitton, IRO draws inspiration from the pair's background in the music industry and the young, jet setting crowd synonymous with that scene. The name 'IRO' comes from the Japanese word for 'colour', and this collection definitely lives up to it's name. The leather biker jackets, available in neon blue, crisp white and deep burgundy are complimented by red and white patterned silks and dark grey leopard skin printed denim. Helmut Lang goes green for Pre-Fall 2012

Designers Nicole and Michael Colovos and fans of their work for Helmut Lang have somewhat of a predication for black. And they do it well.

This season the designers take inspiration from an unusual place, the erratic webs spun by caffeinated spiders(!)

The result is bold abstract prints in tone-on-tone and also brilliant green, paired with their beloved black, leather, and sheer jersey in soft pastel lime. And, of course, a deft hand with asymmetry in cut and line.

Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness

When we started collecting images for this post we asked ourselves “what do we think of when we think of ‘AMERICA’?”

We had a vast response ranging from the movie EasyRider to Woodstock to Bruce Springsteen and Barack Obama. What do all these things have in common? Free spirit and Big Ambition.
 In a Country and place where cultures collide big things are bound to happen!!

The Americans are known for Supersizing, but it’s not always going to be the portion on your plate. The dreams are big, the love is big, the ideas are big and the creativity in this land has brought to us some of the worlds greatest Artists, Designers, Actors and Writers. We all have a list of favourites but the list is far too long to complete today.

On the 4th of July we celebrate in Australia, in our style, Americas Independence Day... Here is a tribute to Our American friends and what we think of in honour of a great country.
