Introducing the fabulous Danielle Draper
What wonderful things do you do at BELINDA/the corner shop?
I am the V.I.P. Client Manager and Stylist so I get to preview all the exciting deliveries as soon as they arrive at the office. I have preview appointments for V.I.P. clients with some of our labels (particularly those stocked in Belinda, MLC Centre) before they go into the store. I also have clients whom I look after across Belinda, The Corner Shop and Marni, selecting pieces just for them, putting outfits together at the stores and in their homes, editing their wardrobes and selling clothing from previous seasons at The Frock Exchange.
How long have you been with the company for?
Just over 18 months in this role. I did work for Belinda previously from 1999 to early 2004.
Best thing about working here?
The clothes, the customers and the other staff!
Tell us something interesting that you are working on at the moment?
We offer a great experience in our stores and I would like to extend that experience to people travelling to Sydney and Melbourne (where our stores are located). Shopping in a new city is so much fun and we are looking at ways to reach out to visitors with special services.
Who is your style icon?
I guess it changes through different stages in my life but I take inspiration from so many women (ones I actually know such as family, friends and colleagues) and famous ones. I currently love the fashion style of French Vogue’s Emmanuelle Alt.
What are your favourite labels?
I love to mix it up so working in multi-label stores is the best! I am having an A.L.C. moment at Belinda right now and love Mary Katrantzou. At The Corner Shop I am obsessed with Olympia le Tan’s clutches and the cool printed jeans from Textile Elizabeth and James.
If you were stranded on a deserted island, what 4 things would you take with you?
My toothbrush and toothpaste so I could at least feel human and my nail file and nail polish (I couldn’t bare walking on sand without nice toe nails).
What’s on your wish list for winter?
Black leather leggings/pants.
Where is your favourite place to go for a cocktail?
Chateau Marmont in L.A. for cocktails and people watching.
