The entire Belinda office came out to fawn over the Shourouk delivery when it came in, making mental notes of which pieces we would have to pick up in store for ourselves. 

Parisian designer Shourouk Rhaiem's fashion motto is “luxury and decadence”, and her eponymous jewelry label stands by this ethos. 

Inspired by Jacques demy films and the art and legacy of Frida Kahlo, Shourouk established her eponymous company in 2007. Since then, her work has shifted from romantic designs to an edgy assortment of contemporary accessories featuring bold splashes of color and ornate details.

Seen on everyone from Anna Della Russo and Blake Lively to Elizabeth Olsen Shourouk brings the wow factor to your accessories collection with her Swarovski crystal cuffs, bib necklaces and dazzling drop earrings.

Her hybrid of maharajah sportive designs create an ethereal combination using contrasting materials from swarovski crystals, metal sequins and silk to industrial elements.

The New Home of Australian Fashion Week...

Here at the Belinda office we had been waiting in anticipation since early October when the IMG team announced they would be unveiling their new plans for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia 2013.

The announcement was to take place at a secret location to be emailed to us at 5pm on Tuesday 16th October. It was all very mysterious and had the office speculating what the organisers had in store for us.

On Wednesday morning at 10am we arrived in Everleigh at Carriageworks……The new home of MBFWA in 2013.

Lisa Havilah, Director, Carriageworks, said, ‘We are delighted Carriageworks will be the new home for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia. Over the past few years, Carriageworks has become a vibrant hub of arts in Sydney that is aesthetically spectacular as well as extremely accessible. We look forward to providing the fashion industry with one central location for activities in and around the showrooms, as well as showcasing the urban side of Sydney with its vibrant design culture.’

In addition to announcing this new location organisers also unveiled new dates for the shows moving from early May to 8th-12th April. A change that many designers have been petitioning for as it falls more in line with the international buying schedule. In recent years a number of big name Australian designers have been favouring holding their shows off location, so perhaps Carriageworks will bring them back all under one roof.

It appears big changes are in store for Australian Fashion Week, with last year Mercedes Benz regaining naming rights and now a change of date and location, a large number of the fashion community see this change as taking the event from strength to strength. Only time will tell if this move will be for the best, but one thing is for sure, we are definitely going to miss those harbour views.
